Crow and Dakota Indians
of Canada
Crow. A tribe of the Siouan
linguistic family which may have lived on the north side of the
International Boundary in late prehistoric times in the region
indicated on the map, though this is uncertain. (See
Montana.)
Dakota. A well-known tribe of the same family
as the Crow. As already noted, the Assiniboin branched from them in
prehistoric times, but some bands of Dakota, notably that of Sitting
Bull, resorted to Canadian territory at a later period. (See
South Dakota.)
